Welcome

Welcome to the Mount Pleasant family website! It's a joy to know that you are interested in learning more about what is happening here. This is one way we keep you connected with the Body of Christ.  In 2012, one of the big opportunities is the project of expanding Mount Pleasant to two campuses.  Our North Campus at 1075 N. Fruitridge Avenue will launch in mid-February. We're referring to our site at 3050 East Davis, where we've been for 176 years as our South Campus.

At our South Campus, we offer an 8:30 a.m. and a 10:45 a.m. weekly Sunday worship service. Our North Campus service is at 10:00 a.m.

It's hard to stay up to date with all the things that are taking place at Mount Pleasant.  We have recently added two new ministries. The first is our Orphan's Ministry.  This ministry seeks to care for those children who have been displaced from their natural parents, especially here in Vigo County.  The second ministry is our new 6:35 p.m. monthly evening worship service.  People are enjoying this unhurried evening service that seeks to honor the Lord Jesus Christ.  This service happens on the second Sunday of every month at 6:35 p.m.  You can learn more about these ministries by checking out the different tabs at the top.

We welcome you to stop by for worship on Sunday mornings.   Try us out for at least three times so that you'll know what we're like.

Have a great day!

Pastor Aaron Wheaton

  • Recently, on the first Sunday of Lent, Mount Pleasant North Campus experienced what we called our Launch (Grand Opening).  It was a great day for us!  The result of our Launch Sunday hopefully will be an encouragement for all of us  all as we step out of our comfort zones.  When we first began partnering with the folks at our north campus, there were only about 70 in worship.   Launch Sunday's attendance was 165.  Our average there is around 120.  We now have a children's director (Kari Winters)  in place and soon will have a second staff person who will serve as secretary.

We only had two children present on our first Sunday together last July.  This past Sunday, 25 kids came forth for the children's message.  Instead of one senior adult class, we now have a class for K – 5th and a class for 6th and up.   Plus, there were 10 in our new young adults class.   Regarding the bank account, we are tithing 5% of our income to the Conference and we are keeping ahead of our bills.  Spiritual growth is occurring too.   We are in a parish wide Lenten study called Journey To Hope, featuring about 6 new small study groups at North.    The calendar at North is becoming more active.   Sunday worship services are uplifting,  inspirational, and joyful.  A praise team is faithfully there to lead us  in worship each week.  Pastor Rick Swan is there to bring us the Word of God.  Sometimes we swap so that I can be with my new parishioners as well.   We continue to pray as a parish each day at 1:30 p.m. wherever we are.  We have plenty of challenges both at the present and in the future, but the main thought we want to keep in mind is this:  Praise the Lord.

  • At the South Campus, we just finished up our Advocacy and Awareness Week!  Our focus was on orphans here and around the world.  We raised a little over $700 for our Orphan Ministry and sold over $1000 in fair trade goods!  Thanks to all those who came to events and activities!
